Services were conducted this afternoon for Mrs. Charles (Helena) Zane, 71, at St. Paul Lutheran church. Mrs. Zane died Friday, July 29, at 1:30 p.m., at her home, 207 Beam st., Porter, following a long illness.

She belonged to St. Paul's church, and its pastor, the Rev. L. W. Schulenburg officiated at the funeral and burial in Chesterton cemetery. The White Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

A lifelong resident here, Mrs. Zane was born in Porter, Dec. 19, 1895, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Schmerling) Stephens. On June 19, 1914 she was married to Charles Zane, who preceded her in death, Jan. 16, 1964.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Ruby) Buczkowski and Mrs. Francis (Marian0 Wiesemann; and two sons Charles and Lester, all of Porter; also five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
