John Stephens, a former well known resident of this township, died in Crown Point last Friday from septicemia, caused from being struck by an automobile some time before. "Big John" was born in Waverly and spent practically his entire life here, leaving about five years ago, since the having made his home in Lake county. He was 57 years old at the time of his death. The remains were brought to Chesterton Saturday by Undertaker Flynn and the funeral was held from the Flynn-Lundberg chapel at 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. F. R. Briggs conducting the services and interment was in the Chesterton cemetery. Deceased was never married and is survived by several brothers and sisters.
