Former resident Jack L. Wright dies

Former Chesterton resident Jack Lee Wright dies unexpectedly Sunday at LaPorte Hospital. He was 48.

He moved to Fish Lake in rural Walkerton 12 years ago. An employee of American Home Funds in LaPorte, he belonged to the Fish Lake American Legion Post.

He was born Sept. 11, 1935 in Mishawaka to Wilbur Wilson and Dorothy (Clem) Wright. His parents preceded him in death. He married the former Jean Tener on Sept. 15, 1978 in Valparaiso. She survives.

Other survivors are daughters Mary Wright and Lara Wandell of Harvey, IL., Beth and Cynthia Wright at home, Robin Wright of Chicago, Rose Eby of Walkerton, and Susan Wright of Hazel Crest, IL; sons Russell of Michigan City and Timothy and Michael, both stationed in California with the U.S. Navy; seven grandchildren.

Sisters Sharon Wright, Patricia Smith, and Diana Krause of Chesterton, Shirley Zimmerman of Lawton, OK, and Janice Miller of Fredericksburg, VA; brothers Robert and Larry of Chesterton, Roscoe of Portage, and Richard of Chicago.

Services are set for 1 p.m. tomorrow at Haverstock Funeral Home in LaPorte, 362-3333, with Rev. Charles Weed presiding.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fish Lake.

The family requests memorial contributions to Grace Baptist Church of South Bend.
