Aged Resident Passes Away
Mrs. Isabel Rintz, 79, pioneer Westchester resident, passed away Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roscoe Clem. She was born on April 10, 1868 at Waverly, north of Chesterton. On Aug. 13, 1890, she was united in marriage to Frederick Martin Rintz in Chicago, Ill.
Surviving are three sons, Fred Jr., Joseph, and Martin; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Clem and Mrs. Lorraine Wheeler; a half sister, Mrs. John Sievert; and three half brother, John, George and Theodore Stephens, all of Chesterton and vicinity. She also had 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Edmonds funeral home, with Rev. Walter T. Wilson of the First Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Chesterton cemetery.
Mrs. Rintz was born in a log cabin, known as the Stephens homestead, in the vicinity of Waverly, at that time designated as City West. It will be interesting to note that in the history of Porter county many famous incidents occurred near this area.
