Local resident Alta O. Lee, 89, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at The Waters of Duneland.

She was born Sept. 13, 1910, in Clintonville, Wis., the daughter of Oliver and Augusta (Stephens) Johnson, who preceded her in death.

On Aug. 31, 1938, in Porter, she married Donald B. Lee, who on Oct. 7, 1987 also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Larry R. (wife Carolyn) Lee and Donald K. (wife Sharon) Lee, both of Chesterton; a daughter, Shirley A. (husband Jerry) Cline of Jackson Township; a brother, Donald (wife Dorothy) Johnson of Crown Point; three sisters, Valeria Sharples of Tucson, Ariz., Loretta (the Rev. Howard) Behrens of Elgin, Ill., and Gloria (husband Arthur) Isbey of Chesterton; a son-in-law, William L. tucker of Chesterton; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Mrozinski of LaPorte.

She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith A. Tucker in May of 1986; and a sister, Doris Gland Hilt.

Mrs. Lee, a homemaker and lifetime resident of Porter, was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church as well as a member of the Ladies Aid of the church.

Funeral services, the Rev. Thomas Obersat officiating, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She will be interred at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton.
