COMMENT: Joseph was a town Marshall in Chesterton from 1900 - 1907. During his term he had several interesting legal battles with townsfolk over his handling them during arrests. The Chesterton Tribune has several articles regarding this subject. An early history of Porter County had an article about him. The Death Certificate for Joseph lists his date of birth as 23 Aug 1860--a contridiction to other information used.
